The Rivermead Behavioural Memory Test - Extended Version (RBMT-E)

Authors: Barbara A. Wilson, Linda Clare, Alan Baddeley, Janet Cockburn, Peter Watson, And Robyn Tate

The RBMT-E is designed to pick up moderate to severe memory impairment

Description: While the RBMT, described above, is designed to pick up moderate to severe memory impairment, this extension of the test detects mild memory deficits due to brain damage, drugs, or stressors.

By adding more items, making other items more complicated, and increasing the complexity of item presentation, the authors have created a test that discriminates those reasonable RBMT scores into good, average, poor, and impaired subgroups.

This level of fine discrimination, along with the provision of two parallel forms, makes the RBMT-E an ideal measure for use before and after a therapeutic intervention or the administration of medication. The two parallel forms are sensitive to age and IQ effects in non-brain-injured subjects, and they have been shown to discriminate between middle-aged and elderly subjects whose memory functioning differed only marginally. The RBMT-E can be used with individuals from age 16 to 65 years.
